10 things I don’t do as a non-diet GI dietitian


You Deserve GI Nutrition Support Without More Food Fear

Hi Reader,

If you’re struggling with digestive symptoms, you’ve probably already tried a lot.

Cutting out foods.
Starting over on Monday.
Googling (Or Claude-ing) symptoms late at night.
Feeling anxious before meals, travel, restaurants, or social events.
Wondering if your body is “too sensitive” or if you’re just doing something wrong.

For many people with IBS and digestive issues, nutrition advice can start to feel overwhelming very quickly. What begins as trying to “eat healthy” slowly turns into fear, stress, and restriction.

As a non-diet GI dietitian, I want you to know: supporting your gut should not come at the expense of your relationship with food.

There are a lot of things I don’t do in session because I don’t want to retraumatize people around food and their bodies.

I don’t:

  • hand you a giant list of “bad foods”
  • assume weight loss is the goal
  • shame emotional eating or convenience foods
  • expect perfection
  • ignore your culture, traditions, or favorite foods
  • push restrictive diets without support or context
  • make symptom management feel like punishment
  • overlook the overlap between GI issues and disordered eating
  • give one-size-fits-all recommendations
  • believe healing requires obsessing over every bite

Instead, I help clients:
✨ understand what may actually be contributing to symptoms
✨ feel more confident eating again
✨ stay nourished while managing digestive issues
✨ build sustainable habits that fit their real life
✨ include cultural and comfort foods without guilt
✨ move toward food freedom, not more food fear

My approach is food-first, weight-inclusive, culturally inclusive, and rooted in meeting you where you are.

Because sometimes the goal is learning how to diversify meals and support your gut. And sometimes the goal is simply eating enough during a stressful season without spiraling into restriction.

Both matter.

You do not have to earn symptom relief by becoming more rigid with food.
